Fake Warnings 1
Malicious scripts on web pages

There are 2 main reasons for unwanted popups/notifications on your Windows machine. Both are related to your web browser -- one type are actual notifications originating from specific web sites. These you can control/eliminate via your browser settings.
The second, and just as frequent culprit, are scripts on web pages that can completely lock up your browser. Sometimes these are accompanied by very irritible noises... with these you often seem to loose complete control of your keyboard/mouse.

It is this second, more drastic type that I will address on this tips page. (See Fake warning 2 for how to edeal with the first type.)

You are on the internet, browsing around... looking up this, You-Tubing that, Facebooking... whatever
Then you get one of the following (or similar):

Usually you get stuck there not able to do anything.

DON'T CALL THE NUMBER!

Microsoft is not contacting you. This is a browser pop-up scam. All you have to do is close the browser to get it to stop -- but the scammers make it difficult. Here's how to shut them out:

If you have a PC or Laptop reloaded or purchased from me, you simply need to press the "F9" key (the "Fn" AND the "F9" key on some laptops) -- and this will close your default web browser. Thus putting and end to the script on the web page and all the popups and possible noises.

If Not, this can be accomplisheed using the task manager -- see below:

You open the task manager and "end task" for the browser you are using
(be it Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome... )

Follow these steps:

1.) On your keyboard, press the keys CRTL and ALT and Delete

You will see this screen:

2.) Then choose Task Manager and you will see something like:

3.) Then click the browser name with your mouse (in this case Chrome) to select it.

4.) Finally click End Task

This will close the browser, and thus end the evil script and the popups it generates.
